REPORT:
Ipswich 3 - 0 Chesterfield (FAC3)
James,
3/1/09
Three goals in the
second half from Jon Walters, Pablo Couñago, and Jon
Stead helped Town to secure a place in round four of the FA
Cup.
Jon Walters fired
home a penalty early on in the second half, after Alan Quinn's
cross was handled in the area on 50 minutes.
The second of Town's
goals came six yards out from Pablo Couñago's left
foot on 53 minutes, following a key save at the opposite end
from Ipswich goalkeeper, Richard Wright.
The finishing goal
of the three came in the 88th minute when Jon Stead made the
most a good headed setup from Walters, and volleyed the ball
past Tommy Lee in the Chesterfield goal.
As expected, Town
were the dominant force in the match with 58% of possesion
and 16 attempts at goal. However Chesterfield had several
good chances, the closest coming just before Couñago
scored Town's second.
Darren Currie made
an appearance for the Spireites, coming on for Danny Hall
on the hour mark. Alex Bruce also made a return from suspension
to replace an injurred David Wright on 70 minutes.
Town's win puts
them in the draw for the fourth round which will take place
on Sunday.
