PREVIEW: Ipswich vs Chesterfield (FAC3)
James, 2/1/09

In their first match of the new year, Town face Chesterfield at Portman road tomorrow in the third round of the FA Cup. Kick off 15:00.

With the controversy surrounding Chesterfield's secend round tie with Droylsden over, Town host the Coca-Cola League 2 side in their first ever meeting.

Ipswich may be without Kevin Lisbie thanks to a throat infection and Danny Haynes is still recovering from an ankle injury. However Owen Garvan and David Wright are likely to return and Alex Bruce is back from his suspension.

Jim Magilton: "Chester made the most of their second chance and gave us two tough games and I'm sure Chesterfield will be looking to do the same," Town boss Jim told the Club website.

"They will relish coming to our place and their players will want to prove they can handle playing against a club from a higher division.

"It's a 'banana skin' tie on what is a fantastic day in the football calendar, FA Cup Third Round day. Up and down the country, stories will be written. We have to make sure one is not written at Portman Road.

"I'm a great fan of the competition. It's still got that magic about it and we want to progress as far as we can in the FA Cup. All the way to Wembley."

Chesterfield's Jack Lester is out on suspension for the red card against Droylsden and Robert Page and Dan Gray are doubtfull. However Alan Goodall is available having returned from suspension.

Lee Richardson: "It's been a real saga, we are glad that we are through it and on with the next round of the cup and we can move on.

"We can now move on to the next round of the FA Cup, get back to league action and forget about it.

"We are massive underdogs, we can go there without any sense of expectation and maybe that is a good thing."

Darren Currie may even make a return to Portman road, the ex-Town player hoping for a place in Chesterfield's squad tomorrow.

Currie: “They drew with Darlington without me last week so you never know I may not even get a game.

“I really hope I'm involved, either training or coming off the bench and as much as I love Ipswich it would be unbelievable to score.”
